Washington, D.C.

On November 5, students from Liberty North in newspaper, broadcasting, and yearbook lined up at the airport gates to go on a trip to Washington, D.C. Once there, they visited several different monuments and buildings. They took a tour of the capitol, visited the White House and some Smithsonian museums, and went into the Library of Congress. They also visited monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Arlington National Cemetery.

These were all fun and exciting, but the reason they were there was because of the National High School Journalism Convention. Students that went to the convention could attend classes such as how to make a career out of journalism and how to become a better writer. At the end of it all was the JEA National Write Off. Students could were placed in a category such as review writing, feature writing, sports writing, and more. Some students were then selected for an honorable mention, superior, or excellent rating.
