Technology Takeover

Buzz buzz, beep beep. We all know the sounds. We hear them everywhere. It’s the sound of your phone. Technology has become a huge part of our daily lives. We are obsessed with our phones, laptops, etc. Some of us can’t even have a conversation with one another without hiding ourselves behind our phones. I have a habit of doing this too. I think everyone needs to have a break from their phone, laptop, tablet, and anything else that can be a distraction from face to face conversation. I watched this Buzzfeed video of people going without their phone for a week. An entire week. After the week was up, the people that participated were interviewed. Every single one of them said it was life-changing and that their lives were much easier not having to reply to texts, tweet, and simply check the time. Also, they all said they were more social and it was easier to have conversations without the distraction. I’m not saying to lock your phone up for a week because I know I couldn’t for an entire week, but all I’m saying is to keep yourself from checking it every other minute. When talking to someone all you have to do turn off your volume or vibration and keep it in your pocket. Your conversations will be so much more meaningful and interesting. Yes you will be bored at times, yes you will feel lost without it, but if you just leave it at home for a single day you will know what I am talking about. I’ve done it, you could too. Yes, you have your laptop but that doesn’t mean anything. Logout of Twitter for the day, don’t play games all day, use your laptop for school purposes only. You will have a better day than what you have had all week.
