Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. King are the head Librarians at Liberty North public high school. They have done many things for Liberty North over the years besides just doing their jobs they have also started clubs, supported other teachers and students, and run different kinds of events.

“Mrs. King has been working for 28 years all of which were in the Liberty District, while I have been teaching for 23 years, for 5 of those years I have taught at North.” Katie Fisher said.

Fisher offers some insight into what a normal day looks like for our librarians and everything they do for our school.

“Every day looks different. As librarians, we teach lessons collaboratively with teachers covering research, technology, and literature. We also curate the library book collection by looking at professional reviews and selecting resources that enhance the collection, meet the student’s needs, and offer students a variety of different books at different levels. This includes choosing diverse books to represent every student at Liberty North. Library administration also includes programming like Books and Bites, Book Club, Book Subscriptions, and events such as game days and Winter Wonderland. The library also runs the Digital Media program, allowing students to create, design, and produce ideas outside the classroom. We offer support to students one-on-one for studying and reading and offer space for students before school, after school, and during flex,” Fisher said.

Even though their days are full, the librarians make time for things that matter to them. Loving books is part of the job and most of the fun for a librarian. Loving all different kinds of stories helped push them to pursue starting clubs surrounded by people who have a love of books.

“Before I came to LNHS I was a co-librarian at Liberty High School. We had a book club there and I love to read. Therefore it was something that I wanted to bring over to Liberty North. I love that I was able to bring a book club to North because my favorite part of the book club is that we don’t all have to read the same thing, reading is reading. This job is challenging, fun, and constantly changing. I have never been bored,” King said.
