March for Life 2015–Every Life is a Gift

On the solemn 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court Case decision Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal, hundreds of thousands of pro-life supporters from around the country gathered in the streets of the nation’s capital for the world’s largest human rights demonstration. In the presence of our lawmakers, half a million peaceful protesters marched with a simple goal in mind: to end abortion in our country. A few of these young “pro-lifers” were from the Kansas City – St. Joseph Diocese, including four students from Liberty North, and left January 20 traveling on a charter bus night and day for 24 hours to Washington, D.C. to attend the March on January 22, before making the trip back home.

“We are trying to get the government realize that allowing abortion is wrong and have them realize that they are killing real human beings,” junior Mady Roberts said.

Those who call themselves pro-life are strong believers in the importance of the right to life.

“The pro-life movement is one that looks to uphold the dignity and awesomeness of all human life from conception to the day of a natural death. The March for Life is part of the pro-life movement that specifically focuses on saving the lives of innocent unborn babies,” junior Claire Jackson said.

People of all ages, religions, and backgrounds were present for the 2015 March for Life; their purpose was to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“I think it’s important to raise awareness on the fight against abortion, to educate those who may not understand, and to stand up for the ones who will never have the chance to stand up for themselves,” junior Emily Dumit said.

Although the reason for gathering was made in memory of the 56 million children in the United States lost to abortion, marchers came to bring awareness to the cause.

“It’s a fun, exciting trip, but its a pilgrimage too, and since it’s a pilgrimage it’s not always comfortable, but it’s a good way to offer up your suffering for the babies. It’s fun to join with the crowd of people who love, support, and care about the innocent children being aborted every day,” Jackson said.

Inspired by men and women conceived from rape as well as healing post-abortive women, many have resolved to make the trip again and again until abortion becomes a thing of the past.

“I always think it’s amazing hearing from women and men who were conceived from rape and seeing that children who are conceived from rape aren’t evil and they’re not there to destroy a woman’s life. They are completely innocent. Just because their fathers were jerks doesn’t mean that they should be murdered, and it doesn’t mean their lives are less worth living,” Jackson said.
