Hour of Code

On December 11, 2014 Mr. Kisker, the IED teacher, had his class and other students that wanted to join, came to the library during fourth hour. During this time the students either learned how to code or were taught what to do. This school event was a great way for students with the same interests to get together and enjoy learning how to code while getting to know other kids at the same time. Even though students may not be in the IED class, they still find it enjoyable.

“I’ve never done any coding before, but my friends were talking about it in class so I decided it might be fun to try it. I enjoy it because it is fun and something different,” sophomore Hayden McClure said.

Students aren’t just coding random games, they are coding  games that many people know about such as Frozen and Angry Birds.

“I’m not actually in any engineering class, but I’m doing the Frozen coding. You have to be able to get Elsa to move and you are the one controlling how the game is working,” junior Madyson Roberts said.

Two teachers, Mr. Chatlos and Mr. Kisker, were walking around helping the students figure out how to code video games.

“IED students are learning to program games with codes in order to create movements that help things move in the video game. They are basically creating video games,” sophomore Jordan Jackson said.
