It’s finally that time of year again! The Christmas season is almost here – radio stations are serenading us with carols and Crown Center has reopened the Ice Terrace. The Ice Terrace is the only  public outdoor rink in Kansas City.

Crown Center at the holidays is absolutely beautiful to see. The huge trees and lights everywhere; shoppers bustling about looking for gifts for loved ones; the delighted shouts of children as they wobble and race each other across the ice. The Terrace is filled with people from all walks of life: teenagers and young adults on dates, families with little children trying to get all the energy out, and the elderly simply enjoying the crisp air and happy faces of the kids.

The Terrace is open daily from November 6th through March 13th. The hours range from 10 am to 9 pm Sundays through Thursdays and 10 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $6 per person and skaters can rent skates from Crown Center or bring their own. Passes can last from 1-2 hours.

“This ice skating rink is fun because it’s all festive at Crown Center, so it puts you in the Christmas spirit,” junior Maddi Van Dyne said.
