What’s Your Walk-Up Song?

Music has the power to pump athletes up and increase focus, and walk up songs for baseball and softball players have that effect. Choosing a walk up song is a process that many athletes take seriously.

“If I had a walk up song, it would be ‘Let’s Get it Started’ by The Black Eyed Peas because it’s a classic,” sophomore Garrett Williams said.

Some people choose their songs based on what’s popular, and some pick their personal favorites.

“Mine would be ‘Tonight’ by TobyMac because it’s a great, upbeat song,” tennis coach Doug Davis said.

The songs don’t have to be a specific genre or tempo. Whether it’s country, rock, pop, or hip hop, each individual walk up song has a certain effect on the athlete.

“I would do ‘House Party’ by Sam Hunt. I’ve started to like country a lot more lately, and this song gets me excited with it’s upbeat,” senior Lindsay Marvine said.
