Royal Blue’s

The Kansas City Royals have made their way to the 2015 World Series. But while doing so the players have experienced different feelings every game to the very end. Recently Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez had learned that his father had passed away. As USA Today explains  “It was an eerie feeling, keeping a secret from the man pitching the biggest game of the season for your club, and not quite sure you were doing the right thing. The national TV audience knew it. Most of the fans at Kauffman Stadium knew it. The Kansas City Royals’ management, and even some of their players, knew it. Edinson Volquez didn’t know a thing”.

“It’s sad what happened, but it definitely made them come together as a team and fight even harder to win the world series” Senior Cheyenne Bourgeois said.

Volquez spoke of how the event did nothing but make him want to play even more, stating “It’s what my dad would’ve wanted” when talking at the Rally on November 3, 2015.

“Volquez is an amazing player, they all are. When the players lost love ones they didn’t quit or stop playing. They continued to play even harder, it was definitely something to look up to.” Junior Matt Vocke said.

All and all the Royals apparently pushed thru the pain of loss, ending as the champions of the World Series in the year of 2015.

“I wouldn’t have wanted the year for the royals to go any other way.” Sophomore Parker Kirtley said.
