Harvey, Irma, and José are the names of current hurricanes that have happened in September of 2017, in the United States.

  While at the same time forest fires rage on in Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, and Utah. One may ask if these are the effects of Global Warming?

  “Global warming is already having significant and harmful effects on our communities, our health, and our climate,” a scientist from Union of Concerned Scientists wrote.

  It seems that scientists say global warming is the cause for these disasters. But how do we reverse this climate change? We clean it up.

  “…dramatically reduce our carbon emissions, slow the pace of global warming, and pass on a healthier, safer world to future generations,” the Union of Concerned Scientist said.

  Most importantly everyone needs to know how to be safe, whether global warming is causing hurricanes or forest fires you must always be aware of what to do in an emergency.

  “During a tornado, my family gets all the stuff we need and goes to the basement because we have food down there and it’s very sturdy,” sophomore Ernest Appolon said.  

  Be aware, watch the news and have a disaster preparedness plan.  Take all evacuation notices and warnings seriously and plan ahead of time to have at least three days of food, water, and medications.
