Robot on the Rise

The Liberty Robotics Club works hard all year to achieve their prestigious goals. The work all year and they work as a family.

“Basically it’s a team sport that gives me skills that I would not have learned anywhere else,” freshman Brady Creek said.

Through the year they build a robot and take it to compete against other teams from other cities and states. The mechanical team works with putting the robot together. CAD makes the robot digitally on the computer and programming programs the robot to function. The team splits the year up into three sessions pre-season, build-season, and post-season. Pre-season starts with fundraising, small competitions. During build-season they work every day Monday through Friday from January 3rd to February 12th. They even work Saturday’s from 10 in the morning to 6 and Sunday’s as well from noon to 6.

The team brainstorms, strategizes, builds, and programs. During the brainstorming the team is given “the game” for this years robot, which is “Recycle Rush”. The next step of the process is post-season, the team will be going to regionals in Kansas City and this year the are also going to a second regionals in Cincinnati over spring break. Being apart of the robotics team is a great learning experience; it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. The team puts in a ton of effort and it pays off in the end.

“It has giving me the resources and the opportunity to learn things about engineering that I could not have been able to learn on my own, ” sophomore Ben Ross said. Robotics offers many new skills for students who join.
