Will the “Musical Comedy Murders” Really Kill?

The premiere of the very first Musical Comedy Murders takes place in the theater on Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6, starting at seven o’clock. From the beginning of auditions, students were passionately debating who would take part in this said-to-be hilarious script. Now the time has come to see the cast and crew perform this ‘hilarious’ story, and to see if the audience agrees with it’s quality.

Finding someone to discuss why the play has potential to be a hit this weekend was not hard at all.

“I got to build most of the set, which is really awesome, the set has trap doors, revolving book cases and Nathanial Smith and I got to figure out and build a snow machine. I’m excited; this is the first play that I’ve done outside of church because my old school didn’t have a theater. And I love acting, it’s my favorite thing to do,” senior and cast member Oscar Baraz said.

The persona of this high quality entertainment has the crew on their toes.

“Since the play is on one set, I manage various sound effects like wind which we use when the doors of the theater open and close. In the play they use radios, so I had to find four different songs from the 1940’s, sequence them together along with all the noises of the play and download them myself. For the past week we’ve been at the theater until eight in the evening. It’s been a four to five week process for myself, but the cast and crew have been working hard to put on a great show for everyone,” Junior and crew member Trent Faulkner said.

The expectations of the play have students waiting at the edge of their seats to buy tickets as well.

“It’s going to be really funny and exciting. This type of play is ‘farce’ which means there will be a lot of action and it’s going to be really funny entertainment; which is exactly why I’m excited to watch it,” Junior Beth Damgar said.

The results will show after the play, but it seems the support is in the cast and crew to turn a funny script into a comical show.
