The Midsummer Station

The Midsummer Station

For avid Owl City fans like me, this new album was highly anticipated. After “Fireflies”, Owl City kind of went off the charts, but with the  recent release of “Good Time” with Carly Rae Jepsen, Owl City is definitely getting face time once again. The new album released, called “The Midsummer Station” is just what I’ve been waiting for.  Though overall the album impressed me, I know that I’ll be buying it as soon as possible, it left some to be desired. There were many uplifting songs like “Dreams and Disasters”, and “Gold”. Whereas songs like “Dementia”, “Embers’, and “Silhouette” aren’t the classic Owl City that I love. They sound more like music you would hear on the Top 40 which isn’t what I want to hear from Owl City, I like their electronic unique sound instead. I’ll always be a fan of the classic sound of “Ocean Eyes”. Many of the songs though were a great surprise. The album was full of songs that mix old and new Owl City sounds. Personally, my favorite song on the whole album was “Bombshell Blonde”; it was a catchy upbeat song, that still had a great beat and sound. For me, this is the backbone of any great song. All in all, this album did not disappoint, and though I’ll always be a huge fan of Owl City, they are definitely making their way back up the charts. Personally, I see big things in Owl City’s future. However, I would like to see the old and new sounds brought together in better ways. No matter what though I’ll always be an Owl City fan all the way.
