And yet again, Liberty North has succeeded at another “first”! This past Friday, our very own Liberty North Student Council attended the Northwest District Conference Meeting for the Missouri Association of Student Councils. While attending this conference is a set-in-stone routine for our school’s council, members completed a job well done at fulfilling their elected term as the District First Vice President school.

As you may recall, at this time last year, over 80 members in the council took a compelling “First VP” campaign to the Districts Meeting, winning the honor over several other schools. This win scored the council the role of assisting Park Hill South High School in running the 2016 Districts Meeting that took place this past Friday, September 29th.

Specifically, Liberty North students in “STUCO” were hard at work to coordinate over 27 workshops that nearly 1,000 council members from across the district attended. The Special Events Committee, who specifically oversaw this undertaking, experimented with multiple ways to organize the workshops, completed countless hours hand-cutting arranged “tickets”, and even presented their own prepared seminar.  All of this organized chaos paid off, though, as student leaders across our great district grew inspired as each workshop progressed, learning to become better for their schools. Throughout the day, students networked, shared ideas, encouraged one another and reenergized in gusto. These 1000 leaders now return to their schools and communities better than ever to serve those around them.

Even beyond what other schools annually return home feeling, Liberty North’s Student Council walked away from the 2016 Northwest District Conference Meeting having excelled at their latest growth opportunity. The challenges faced while campaigning, organizing, and executing during their term as District First Vice President was a team effort, bonding the members in leadership and accomplishment. This most certainly will not be the last of Liberty North Student Council’s conference endeavors because even as this is being read, members are hard at work preparing for the FIRST EVER Region 6 National Conference for Student Councils.. But.. that’s a different story for a different time!
