Students have a lot of pride in their schools, although some believe that Liberty pride should not be shown at North. Through fan shirts and the blue-and-black color scheme, students are being stared down while they sport their Blue Jay wear through North territory.

This issue within our school is a very childish way to show dislike towards the separation of Liberty schools. I think students should be able to support Liberty High School students without being harassed, especially because they are not a big rival of ours. Of course some may argue that Liberty North and Liberty are constantly fighting to be the “better high school”, but most agree that we have bigger opponents. Teachers have even joined in on giving kids a hard time for wearing the “incorrect spirit wear”- even when most of the staff has worked at Liberty High School.

The rivalry between Kearney and Liberty North is a larger one than between Liberty North and Liberty, so I do comprehend how some may have an issue with wearing Kearney spirit wear here. I believe that Liberty and Liberty North spirit wear should be able to make an appearance in whichever school they wish to. I also understand that students should have pride in their own school, but they also should have good sportsmanship towards other schools; especially to other schools from the same district and town.
