The nylon, almost crusty-feeling graduation gown with the silk gold sash embroidered with my graduation year and what’s important about it; accompanying these is the staple piece to complete my graduation wardrobe, the hat. We all know the one. The one with the tassel. The hat that will never fit my head because my head is huge and shaped like an egg.

Yup, it’s graduation time.

We’ve probably all felt like this day would never come. That phrase is quickly tiring itself out; “I thought this day would never come.” But literally. Right now, I feel like there was something that should’ve stopped me along the way. Something that should’ve kept me from reaching this point. I survived my parents divorcing, finals for three years in a row, and even the Mayan Apocalypse…well, especially the Mayan Apocalypse because that was technically supposed to prevent every class of 2013 from graduating.

But we made it. And we’re here.

I’m gonna miss high school. Yeah, I said it. But it’s not that I’m gonna miss classes. High school was my home away from home, with my family being all my friends that I saw all the time. The JLAB was my room; only, unlike my room, it had, 50 other people in it throughout the day.

But that’s fine.

I really hope college is all that people are building it up to be, because my experience in high school is gonna be tough to beat. Four years of metamorphosis, watching people change, changing myself; the contrast from four years ago is so great, I don’t even know if it’s possible to do it all over again in college.

I guess it’s time about to find out. Peace out, Girl Scouts.
