Prom Ticket Prices

Prom Ticket Prices

It is fitting that the theme of this year’s Prom is a “Moonlit Mystery”, being that many students are in the dark as to why the ticket prices for Prom have skyrocketed.

On April 4, student council advisers Lindsey Plaster and Doug Davis sent out an informational letter regarding the mysterious raise in the ticket prices.

“The adjusted $40 per ticket price point was established after thorough analysis of student expectations for the Prom experience, Prom expenses, and Prom ticket prices for other schools in our area,” student council advisers Plaster and Davis said.

The prices needed to be raised so that Student Council could meet the requests of the student body for Prom night.

“LNHS students clearly expressed their expectations for high-quality Prom ‘details’, including formal invitations, decorations, entertainment, and party favors,” Plaster and Davis said.

Although the letter was sent to all junior and senior students, some are still questioning the decision to make the tickets more expensive.

“The ticket prices are absurd. Student Council should be able to fundraise to help provide for the student body and the kind of Prom they want,” junior Payton Wolff said.

Because there is not a venue change from last year, students wonder why they need to pay more.

“Nothing is different from last year, besides a t-shirt, which should be an optional purchase anyways,” Wolff said.

However, this commonly asked question is answered in the informational letter.

“Ticket prices the past two years have no covered Prom expenditures. The $40 per tick price point covers the cost per student to host this high-quality event, is less than average ticket prices in our area,” Plaster and Davis said.

Not all students are unhappy with the ticket prices, however.

“I think the ticket prices are reasonable. They’re still not as expensive as a lot of other schools, and we’re getting a lot for our money. We get to go to the Madrid, food and drinks at the dance, a t-shirt and sunglasses. It’s worth it to me,” senior Ali Hagen said.

Ticket prices aside, Prom is a night for the junior and senior classes to have fun and enjoy their classmates presence.
