Previewing the Super Bowl

The prominent NFL teams that were expected to reach the NFL Super Bowl in the year 2012; The Eagles, Steelers, Packers, Falcons, Texans, to name a few. With the occasional flop team, surprise team, and those crazy upsets that can never be foreseen, this year’s championship game appears to be as unpredictable as the rest. None of these teams will be vying for the championship game this time around. The final four teams left in the race for the title include; the New York Giants who play the San Francisco 49ers, and the New England Patriots who play the Baltimore Ravens.
“I think the New England Patriots will win the super bowl this year just because they just have a lot of talent and dedication for the game,” senior Lukas Mingori said.
This season held a new set of expectations for each individual team. Still, many teams squandered their chance at the championship early, and others did not come close to what was once expected of them. Though, a handful of new teams such as the 49ers, the Texans, and even the giants, have risen from the NFL grave this year. These are the teams that are joining the ride and got to take part in extracurricular activity in this years playoffs. But, the excitement is over for all but four teams and now it is time to move on to reality on what is to come next.
“I believe that the San Francisco 49ers will win the super bowl this year. The 49ers have a lot of good players and they are moving up. I’d say they’ve got the moment, so I’d bet on the 49ers,” junior David Roelofsz said.
These four teams all have a story to the surprising success that has been bestowed to their team this year. The 49ers have a new head coach, Jim Harbaugh who has eased into an NFL atmosphere, revived the 49ers franchise quarterback, established a defensive identity, and revamped the entire organization in the process. The Giant’s Quarterback Eli Manning has been firing on all cylinders to his new main man, undrafted Wide Receiver Victor Cruz. The Ravens have been in the playoffs countless times this decade and just seem to finally be putting all the pieces together. Then there are the Patriots, who have one of the greatest quarterbacks and coaches in NFL history. So there it is: four teams who have hungry players, teams that will do anything to get to the prestigious NFL Super Bowl.

Who will it be then? It’s going to be quite a challenge to come up with much of a clue at this point.
