A chance to see the President of the United States speak live and in person is an extraordinary opportunity that does not often come up. For the Eagle’s View staff, they had that exact chance at the Ford Stamping Plant on September 21, 2013.
“This was a once in a lifetime experience. I am supportive of our president, but simply the opportunity to see a president in person is something you don’t take for granted no matter who you support. His presence definitely captivates your attention. All eyes were on him the entire time,” Senior Madi Saunders said.
The majority of high school students would not be able to say they saw the President live, but the staff was able to hear President Obama talk about the economical issues rising up in Congress.
“It was extremely inspiring. I loved every minute of it. Just hearing him make everyone laugh and understand exactly what he was talking about opened my eyes in a new way,” Senior Ariel Kuznia said.
Large news stations such as CBS News, Fox 4, and the Liberty Tribune surrounded the Eagle’s View Staff. Events such as these are a commonality for these large stations.
“This is my second time covering an event of Obama’s. My first time was when I was interning and the President came and visited an electric battery plant to talk about the importance of green energy. That event was even smaller than this one – it was only media and some employees,” Liberty Tribune reporter Ryne Dittmer said.
