Not Too Overexposed

With songs like One More Night, Beautiful Goodbye, Wipe Your Eyes and the voice of Adam Levine singing, it’s not a surprise that Maroon 5’s newest CD took hit high on the charts.

I first started listening to Overexposed over this summer when my friend slid it into my CD player. At first, I was like, “What the heck is this?” We listened to that CD every day to and from practice. I started to enjoy it more and more each time. I learned the lyrics and got used to the band’s unique sound. I am now, something you called addicted to their music.

At first my favorite song was Payphone, purely for the fact the radio stations were always playing it. Payphone has a nice beat and rhythm to it; my favorite part would have to the chorus. When the CD version is compared to the radio version, I prefer the radio version for two reasons. Number one is because I do not appreciate all of the cussing in the original song. All of the cuss words take away from the actual meaning on the song. The second reason is because I like to listen to Adam Levine sing the bridge instead of the rap bridge on the single. Adam’s voice is so great, that it should be heard rather than a rapper’s.

As my obsession grew through the month’s my favorite song changed from Payphone to Beautiful Goodbye. Beautiful Goodbye is the best song of all time. It is the nicest break up song I have ever heard. With lyrics like, “I count the ways I let you down, on my fingers and toes, but I’m running out,” and “When I met you, so in love that night. Now I’m kissing your tear goodbye.” With my relationship experiences, I think this is the sweetest way to break up with someone. The lyrics are actually meaningful, unlike most of today’s music.

Now I won’t say Overexposed is perfect, because there are some songs that the CD could do without. These songs include Lucky Strike, Lady Killer and Tickets. These songs are pointless and are not very good. They have a nice beat and music backing the singer, but the lyrics themselves are offending and not something I want to listen to. Like me, they should have just skipped these songs all together and the CD would be perfect.

It has been at least five months since I got the Maroon 5 CD and I am still obsessed. I am even asking for their concert ticket for their show at the Sprint Center February 27, 2013.
