Kansas City’s pro soccer team has been making headline, after headline the past two years. The trend continues this year, as the third season after the rebrand, is about to begin.
Sporting KC has changed their name, logo, colors, built a new stadium, and made plenty of roster changes. They’ve ended the season at the top of the eastern conference for two seasons in a row. SKC has won a US Open Cup, had their players play for their national teams, and even go play in the English Premier League.
Sporting has continued to stay in the news by announcing their new jerseys for this season. With Sporting’s new jersey sponsor, local mutual funds store, Ivy Funds and Adidas, Sporting Club has come out with two new jerseys for the 2013 season.
Kansas City will continue to have the dark blue color as their road jerseys, but they have added a bit of a twist to their home kits. The jersey will consist of a combination of the light blue and the dark blue with two lines running down the middle.
A big deal to this organization, is to stay local and proud of KC. They have succeeded in doing this once again by adding a story behind the two stripes and two colors.
Because Kansas City is located in two states and the fan base is split between the states, Sporting has made sure to take advantage of it. SKC has symbolized the city with their jersey. The light blue now represents the Kansas side of the city and the dark blue represents the Missouri side.
Soccer is growing in Kansas City and it’s not a surprise if you look at how well Sporting Club has done with branding. Sporting is making headline, after headline and don’t be surprised if they continue for many years to come.
