KLPS Telethon 2K14

The telethon is just 48 hours away and the KNET news team is buzzing with excitement, busy getting ready for the big day. The telethon is a 24 hour event that is put on by the broadcasting teams of both Liberty and Liberty North High School.

There are a lot of planning that goes into the telethon.

“Throughout the school year we make segments to play during the telethon. My role is to think of events and ideas we can do during the 24 hours we have to fill,” senior Jasmine Ramirez said.

The broadcasting teams have worked really hard to make sure there are many ways for people to get involved.

“You can get involved by coming to our live events on Friday night, We will start things off at seven with a talent show, followed by the battle royale of improve; BBFP vs. Exit 1-6, and to close the night out we will have some late night talk shows that people can attend as a live audience. You can also tune into channel 981 if you have time warner to watch or call in to give donations,” senior Ryan Crisman said.

The telethon also helps raise money for the broadcasting teams. All the money helps the broadcasting teams purchase new equipment, keep the show running, and is also a way KLPS broadcasting stays one of the top broadcasting programs in the nation. If you find yourself sitting at home this Friday night with nothing to do, go to the telethon and help support our broadcasting teams, admission is five dollars for a single event and seven dollars for both events.

“I’m really pumped for the telethon this year. Right now I eat, sleep, and breath all things telethon. It’s definitely been stressful being the director, but I’m so excited to see how it turns out. This is the most fun day our broadcasting program has all year and it is an honor to get to take a lead on it,” Crisman said.
