While one team finally lived up to their expectations, the other came out of nowhere to shock the world. One team is the favorite and has been all season long, while the other is quite an underdog. One team dominates all of MLS and the other dominates the all-powerful SEC.
This Saturday, at 3 pm CT both Sporting Kansas City and the Missouri Tigers will be playing most likely the biggest games in their histories. SKC is competing for their second MLS Cup championship and for the popularity of soccer in Kansas City. Mizzou is competing for their first football conference championship since 1969, a BCS bowl, and a chance to compete in the National Championship.
Sporting has earned the right to host the game at Sporting Park, which will be where I will be all day Saturday. It will most likely be the best atmosphere ever at a Kansas City soccer game so far and will hopefully be a victory for the good guys.
Unfortunately Mizzou will be playing at the same time and I probably won’t be able to watch the first three quarters. I’ll take it though. Both of my teams are in championship games and have a good chance of winning. For any fan of SKC and/or Mizzou, this will be quite a weekend. Hopefully it will be topped off with a couple of championships.
Go Mizzou! Go Sporting!
