Center Stage Spotlight

Everyone has an interest of some sort, but some people have a passion so central to the person they are it influences a lot of what they do.

“Music is important to me because it is a way to express myself, and my feelings. It allows me to be creative. Writing music is almost therapeutic because I can think through a situation in my life and write about it, which is a good way for me to vent so that I don’t bottle things up. Music is something that will always be constant. No matter what crazy and unexpected things are thrown at me, it is always going to be there to listen to, play, and create” senior Elisa Parker said.

With music as a passion, there is an endless amount of people to look up to for inspiration.

“One of my biggest inspirations in music is Taylor Swift. Although people like to make fun of me for it, I think she is extremely talented and writes music that is very genuine and real. Everyone can relate to at least one of her songs,” Parker said

Being musically talented is not something that is just handed to a person. While most people are born with this passion, it is still something that needs to be worked for.

“I love to learn more about music. I am in both concert choir and chamber choir and I also play the guitar. I love to learn or even teach myself new things. I feel accomplished after I learn a song on the piano or try a new instrument. I also lead my youth group worship band and lead worship for FCA,” Parker said.

A passion can be something that follows a person through their entire life.

“I have always loved music. Even as a little kid I would always run around singing and making up songs. I would like to pursue worship ministries in the future. I would love to spend my life doing something with music and can’t think of a better way then using it for God’s glory,” Parker said.
