Best Red-Head Come Back

Best+Red-Head+Come+Back

Recently I’ve watched the new ABC show, Malibu Country. It’s the story of a woman whose country pop star husband, Bob Montgomery, cheated on her with a younger mistress. His wife, Reba Montgomery, played by Reba McEntire embarrasses him in front of the press and moves herself, her mother, played by Lily Tomlin, and her two kids, Cash and Audry from Nashville to Malibu, Florida. They end up living in her husband’s secret vacation house, next door to a women, played by Sara Rue, and her step son.

In the previous years McEntire had an ABC show called “Reba” which I was a big fan of, and I still watch re-runs of the popular show. And part of me is very impressed with the new show and addicted to it weekly, leading me to believe it will be a big hit because I’ve found many similarities to her old show with striking new twists.

One of the biggest resemblances that will make the show sky-rocket is strange similarity of Barbara Jean, and Sara Rue. Barbara Jean of Reba’s old show was a heavy set blonde woman with a persistent personality, who Reba found annoying at first, but ends up being a true friend to her. I can see the similarity to the blond neighbor in the Malibu Country show. They picked Sara Rue, an actress that looks similar to Barbra Jean, with an identical personality, to play Reba’s new trusting, yet annoying friend. Which can only lead me to believe that the plot of the two shows are going to be mixed sometime in the first season of Malibu Country.

On a lighter note, the new show is very refreshing. It has a light-hearted and comical feel, not like so many popular shows that revolve around scandals and murders. The show has my full attention and well deserves it.
