And the Award Goes to… Coach Clark!

And the Award Goes to... Coach Clark!

Brian Clark is a former football player, army man, and is now currently a high school AP World History and Government teacher. This year he was honored with the Missouri Council for the Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award.  Clark has unique teaching tactics, and shares his life experiences to help his students understand the topics more easily.

“He makes his AP class actually interesting and understandable. He does this by taking the time to explain the subject,” sophomore Kennedie Cray said.

Some students might agree that history is not the most exciting subject in the world, because of this they might doze or space off in class. This does not seem to be an issue in Clark’s classes.

“Well, he is my favorite teacher. His class is really fun. The way he teaches make the subject interesting and he makes it easier to pay attention in class,” junior Lindsey Rich.

Not only is Clark a history teacher, but he is also the running back coach for Liberty North’s football team. He has coached all-state running back Antwynn Beavers and many others.

“He is highly intelligent and he truly cares about his work and kids. I would call Coach Clark the classic common sense teacher,” Head Football Coach Ken Clemens said.

On Thursday March 6, 2013 STUCO surprised Clark with a tribute to his award, where he humbly accepted it. He does not attribute this honor to himself, but to his many students.

“I am very flattered, but it is easy to win awards when the students around you are willing to work so hard,” Clark said.

Congratulations to Coach Clark, and the many other esteemed teachers who were up for this award.
