Winter Coat Blues

With winter fast approaching and the temperatures dipping below freezing at night, a winter coat is a necessity. However, winter coats can be expensive; to help out, the Counseling Center has provided a way for students in need to obtain a winter coat.

“The coat drive will run from October 26th to November 8th. Coats will be distributed by counselors and social workers to students in the district who may need a coat. The drive is district wide – all buildings will be participating in this effort. Extra coats will be donated to ‘In As Much Ministries’ and will be distributed to community members in need,” TLC Social Worker Meghan Sullivan said.

Most winter coats are appreciated, but students are asked to please make sure the coats follow the guidelines in order to assure you are helping a student in need.

“What can be accepted are clean and gently worn heavy winter coats, machine washable coats, all in men’s, women’s, boy’s, and girl’s sizes,” Sullivan said.

While turning in coats for the coat drive, keep in mind the benefit that is being providing when a coat is a given to a student in need.
