The Quest for Higher Knowledge

High school is a stressful four years for every student at some point in time. As a freshman you have to deal with every new experience that gets thrown at you. Sophomores get lost in the shuffle of classes they are required to take but do not want to take. Juniors have heavy class loads that are a major part in setting their future. As for us poor seniors, we have to make decisions that will directly impact the rest of our lives. The pounds of pressure and stress are dragging us down, and it is all related to one thing: college.

College is the one thing that all seniors both look forward to and dread at the same time. We have to go on college visits, spend countless hours filling out applications and writing essays upon essays, and finding every scholarship possible so we are not paying off loans in our 40’s.

We then sit and wait on a pile of hope until we get a response in the mail. There are two reactions at this point – accepted and blissful, or rejected and crushed. If you are lucky, your reaction is the former. At this point we have to get all of our financial aid, housing, and meal plans in order. Lets keep in mind that all of this costs money, money most high school seniors do not have considering they only work part time jobs. This is not even including yearly tuition, which costs almost literally an arm and a leg.

The bottom line is that seniors have it hard. We are supposed to be focusing on getting good grades in school and being involved in extra curricular activities. But at the same time we are expected to figure out our future in the span of a few months. Good luck to those who come after us. Maybe you will figure out the best way to conquer your college quest.
