Teacher Spirit Contest

Teacher Spirit Contest

When students walk in to school on Friday mornings, they usually see other students decked out in Liberty North apparel and showing their support for the football game that night.  Many students do not notice the teachers showing their school spirit. But last Friday it was pretty hard to over look many of the teachers.

On Friday September 7, many teachers took part in the teacher spirit contest.  Staff and faculty were encouraged to wear a creative outfits showing their eagle spirit. Most of the teachers outfits included bandanas, pom pons, face paint, eagle wings, and navy and gold everything. The teacher with the most eagle spirit won a twenty dollar gift certificate to Sonic.

“The teacher spirit contest was put on by the Northern Lights committee (a club for teachers, by teachers). The competition coincides with the first ever Eagle Tailgate and the first home football game of the season. The purpose if the competition is for the faculty and staff to join the students of LNHS in showing school spirit for fall sports” Science teacher Ms. Black said.

Not only does school spirit bring students and faculty together, but it boosts the morale of the school.

“As an educator, I have learned that becoming an effective teacher is not only about classroom instruction and student relationships, but also about interacting with other teachers and administrators in the building. And contrary to popular belief, teachers are FUN people and the spirit competition adds some fun to our day! In turn, all this fun helps us to build more meaningful professional relationships with our colleagues. That is why I took part in the teacher spirit contest” Communication Arts and Business teacher Ms. Hittner said.

All in all the teacher spirit contest was a fun way for the faculty and staff to show their school spirit. It also helped promote the first ever Eagle Tailgate and the first home football game of the season.
