FCCLA Today

Meetings around the school take place almost everyday. Thursday morning, a group of students met in Jody’s Fowler’s room at seven a.m. What were these students discussing and why was it so important at seven in the morning? This group of students are what make up the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, or how some may know it better, the FCCLA.

“The FCCLA helps [students] give leadership in the community, it helps them be stronger in their family and all other aspects of the FCCLA,” FACS teacher Jody Fowler said.

It is great to know that teens take pride planning local community service projects, learning leadership skills and participating in ‘star events’.

“Star events projects, like over cooking, you can do a cooking project and it can get rated with a gold, silver or bronze. Then next time you try to get a better rating in the same or different projects,” Sophomore Montana Grizzle said.

To some who my not be very attracted to athletics, this is a great program as well. “The great thing about FCCLA is that you can letter in it, and you get to travel doing community services, babysitting, etc” Gizzle said.

FCCLA is a commitment students and schools all around the United States take on. “It’s sponsored by the government and its looked upon highly” Fowler said.

FCCLA is the center of preparing teens for the life ahead they want to lead.
