Eagles help Liberty

Everyday, more and more families around the Liberty area find it hard to put food on the table for their growing families. As some may know, the hardships of winter also take a toll on families, not only physically, but economically also. With the holidays right around the corner, some families aren’t going to be able to bear the harsh circumstances on their own, and that’s where Liberty North comes in.

For the past week, Liberty North High School’s Student Council and Sports Marketing classes hosted a Christmas Canned Food drive to lend a helping hand to families around Liberty.

Their initial goal was to receive 3,000 cans to be able to donate, and to reach that goal, each Eagle had to help by bringing in at least 4 cans per person.

“The Mayors Christmas tree program had asked us to do it, and we thought it would be a great opportunity to help out the community“, Junior Hattie Zelenak said.

Not only was it a great opportunity to help out the city of Liberty but also showed the people in need that there still are people out there willing to help people throughout our community.

“A lot of students have stepped it up and brought in cans to help us out. We don’t have a total amount of cans yet but we are expecting a large amount and we are excited to deliver the canned food items and show The Mayors Christmas Tree that even as high school students, we are capable of helping out around the City of Liberty,” Zelenak said.
