Club Spotlight: FCA

As students at Liberty North High School walk around the hallways early Thursday morning, they might stumble across 10 to 15 students engaging in a fun game of Ninja or Gorilla, Man, Gun. Students might give these individuals a few weird looks yet playing games is only scratches the surface of what happens at Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or more commonly referred to as FCA.

FCA meets on Thursday mornings at 7 in room 107.  Once there, many students come together for a time of playing games, worship and then a small lesson or devotion.

“FCA is a chance for Christians to come together and play games, worship together, and listen to messages or watch inspirational videos,” Senior Haylee Barros said.

Though it might seem like FCA is just another teacher led club, yet actually it is fully student ran and operated with minimal teacher influence. FCA’s council members put in much planning.

“How we plan is we figure out who is speaking and what they want their lesson to be about then we as a group plan a game and pick songs to sing that relate to the message,” Sophomore Ryan Chrisman said.

Those who go to FCA cherish the opportunity that the club gives them to come together as a group of believers for fellowship and to have a group of people they know they can count on.

“My favorite thing about FCA is getting to worship openly and not worry about being judged by peers. It is also a great opportunity to spend time with friends and meet new people who share my beliefs,” Junior Julia Parker said.
