All Night Long

All. Night. Long. 24 hours of broadcasting extravaganza. Starting 8am on Friday and lasting till  8am Saturday morning. The broadcasting team will host the 13th annual Telethon. The Telethon will split time at both Liberty North and Liberty High School this year.

The Telethon has several events this year. The evening will begin at 7pm with the Liberty’s Got Talent show. The Telethon being 24 hours long, means that there will be many late hours of broadcast journalism.

“My favorite part of the Telethon is probably being there all night with everyone because it’s our opportunity to show the community what we can do,” junior Alberta Engelman said.

The Telethon benefits the broadcasting program through the Liberty School District and helps prepare students for the real world.

“The Telethon is important because we try to be a self-supporting entity. This fundraiser allows our students to gain real world experience while at the same time raising money for equipment expenses,” broadcasting teacher Ann Bertoldie said.

The broadcasting teams at both Liberty and Liberty North put on daily shows at school.

“The Telethon lets us demonstrate what we have learned to the rest of the community and also helps us earn the funds to continue learning,” senior Katelyn Brown said.

The telethon begins at 8am on Friday. There will be a change war between Liberty and Liberty North running between 8:10am and 3:15pm. At 7pm there will be Liberty’s Got Talent in the Liberty North Performing Arts theatre and the BBFP vs. Exit 1-6 show will begin at 8:30pm. It is $5 for one event and $7 for both. Later that evening there will be telethon after dark and many other things in store.
