5th Annual Minority Focus Dinner

5th Annual Minority Focus Dinner

Liberty Public School District hosted its 5th Annual Minority Focus Dinner on November 1, 2012.  Liberty North was happy to host and the cafeteria transformed into five star dining. The night was complete with live music, delicious food and the hard work of Liberty North students.

“There was a lot more work than I expected. I was always busy and there was always more to do. It was fun though because I’ve never done anything like it. It’s definitely something I want to do again because it’s cool to know how all of your hard work goes into something so big,” sophomore KiAndre Pugh said.

The students in the Culinary Arts program all gave hours of class time and hours after school for this one night. The experience of work like this is rare for most teenagers.

“The dinner was very stressful but also an eye opener to what working in a restaurant entails. It was challenging but fun to meet new people and eat some great food,” sophomore Ryan Hinkley said.

Though the students and staff of Culinary Arts put in a lot, no one devoted more effort than Eric Greely, the A+ director at Liberty North and the man who ran the whole night.

“Education is the key to economic freedom in order to have standard of living in the future. Additionally, knowledge is power. Hopefully the knowledge parents and students received at the MInority Focus Dinner will empower them to continue investing in education,” Greely said.

Liberty North has been the proud home of the Minority Focus dinner for three years and the staff and students have been even prouder. The Focus dinner is a great way to show minorities in Liberty a welcoming place for good fun and food.
