North’s women’s swim team is back at it for another season, with many looking forward to what will come and how the records will stand. With the season lasting four months for most of the girls, many have to keep up their motivation.
“I try my best to keep myself motivated by remembering that there is always something I can do to improve my events. There is also always someone faster than me, so it’s good for me to have some more motivation to beat them,” junior Ali Moran said.
Focusing on putting in hard work at practice will be necessary for the team to succeed in later meets throughout the season.
“My goals this year are to improve my times from last year and to get faster. I am also really excited to help me and my team out by cheering people on and keeping a good and positive mindset,” sophomore Chloe Ingle said.
While swimming comes with dedication, hard work, and healthy habits, it also comes with having fun and team bonding.
“My favorite team bonding activity is definitely the pasta parties because I am able to just have fun with all my swim friends while also carbing up for the meet,” senior Avree Melhus said.
Many swimmers joined the sport to have fun and get exercise. Others are ready to beat some records and place high in events.
“I’m really excited to hopefully get the school record this year in the 100 breaststroke, which is my favorite event, and I have been working on it for a while now. I also really want to go a 1:06 for the 100 breaststroke and a 1:02 for the 100 butterfly, which I have been working on for a while at my club team, Tsunami,” Moran said.
