Tough Loss for Eagles’ JV Team

After a stormy and rocky start last night, the Eagles finally scored and went for two. Then, in the last minute the offense was five yards away, and couldn’t score against Rockhurst High School.  The Eagles fought hard against the other team, the pouring rain and the cold, but it wasn’t enough, ending with the score of 11-8, Rockhurst. Two returning juniors to the Eagles’ JV team agree that last years’ team was better than this years’ is.

“[This year] the majority of the team was sophomores, but last years’ team was a majority of juniors, also last years’ team could beat this years’.” junior Offensive Lineman Alex Westhues said.

This years’ JV team record is 5-3 so far, as opposed to last years’ record with 6-2.

“Last year was better because, we won more games and there was less sophomores.” junior  wide receiver Jordan Cooley said.

Even though the Eagles’ JV team has lost three games so far this year, they are confident in their season.

“[Our season is going] good, because our team is performing well, we have good quarterback play and good production out of our running backs,” sophomore wide receiver Kyle Brende said, then added, “and we have a great defense.”

JV players work hard every week to win their games, and help Varsity at practices, and every Monday and Friday they suit up, prepared for their game.

“[We get ready] by getting our minds set right, and focusing on the game and nothing else.” Sophomore PAT Raul Garcia said.
