The Golden Girls’ Trip to State

The road to any competition or sporting event can be a tough one, especially when there are high expectations and hopes to fulfill. This is especially true for the Liberty North Golden Girls who ventured to St. Louis this past weekend for their State Competition.

“When we went to Regionals this past January, we placed first in the 4A Dance category, and also placed first in the 4A Hip Hop Category. This was a huge achievement for us, especially being such a young program,” sophomore Ellie MacDonald said.

Heading to St. Louis was a long road coming, but very worth it says many of the Golden Girls.

“We had to train really hard to get all the way to state, and we hoped going in that we would do very well,” junior Alex Tegeler said.

With being a Golden Girl, comes many long hours of stressful practices.

“We had to practice a lot for the road to State, about five or six times a week for several hours. Practices were very time consuming and stressful, but because I have such a great team, it made it much easier to handle,” sophomore Abby McGregor said.

The Golden Girls came home from the Missouri Dance State Competition with many accomplishments this weekend. They received first place in the 3A Hip Hop Category, and third place in the 3A Lyrical Category. Most importantly, the Golden Girls brought home the second place overall title.

“I know that we can’t win them all, so even though we didn’t take home the first place title, I am still extremely proud of my team and everything that we have accomplished over the past season. I know that next year we will head to state even stronger and take it all,” McGregor said.
