Take it to the Hole Part 2: Women’s Golf

Take it to the Hole Part 2: Womens Golf

Interview with MaryKate Duffin.

How did you do at state overall? Did you place?

MaryKate Duffin: “I ended up 47 out 91, which is a lot better than what I did last year but not as good as I wanted to do this year. My goal was top 20 or to place which is top 15, so no, I didn’t place.”

What were the best and worst parts of your game at Sate?

Duffin: “Short game, definitely! If you got in any bunkers or tall gross or even rough, the best you that could come out of it was a double bogey, I’m not even exaggerating!  Plus the fairways were pretty mushy both days so that was hard to manage and the pin place plus the greens being so fast was tricky.”

What was the pressure like?

Duffin: “There really wasn’t much pressure. It was all pressure on myself. I’m really hard on myself naturally, I’m so competitive, and so I really have just beaten myself up over this tournament. I’ve so much fantastic support from family and peers and everyone is so proud of me. I just wanted to do so good and make everyone proud and reach my goal.”

Are you satisfied with your performance throughout the season overall?

Duffin: “To be honest, yes. There were rounds that I was proud and rounds where I wanted to die!”
