Reasons to be Optimistic Regarding the Kansas City Chief’s Season.

For a number of different reasons, the Chief’s are projected to take a step back from last year’s huge improvement. Whether the reason includes just taking a step back after a stellar season, the poor play, or the difficult schedule. Believe it or not, there is still reason to believe that the Chiefs will be just fine this season.

“This years draft will help the team because we now have depth and not just our starters. if a starter gets hurt (which most do at some point) we will have a good second string ready to play almost just as well until he gets better,”Junior Danny Blackwell said.

For one thing, NFL preseason football has begun. Though the Chiefs have struggled in two rough losses so far in preseason, it is really a non- factor when it comes to the regular season. All that can be said is the two losses mean very little, to nothing. With a majority of the Chiefs key players playing very little, if at all, the preseason can not be a factor when it comes to evaluating a team’s overall talent and potential.

“I think they kind of have themselves a team now because of making the playoffs last year,” Junior Josh Armenta said.

The Chiefs also have many experienced coaches and players, either coming into the mix this year, or just now joining. Whether it is Romeo Crennel coming back to be Defensive Coordinator after a successful run last year, or Jim Zorn going from Head Coach of the Washington Redskins, to the Chief’s Quarterback Coach. These coaches all carry heavy credentials and carry, what they hope to be victories with them as well. The Chief’s have made sure to boast new players to help these coaches out, including, Steve Breaston former Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver, and Le’ron Mcclain who was a two time Pro Bowl full back for the Baltimore Ravens.

“I think the Chiefs will improve from last year because we have more experience in our younger players, which makes up most of our team,” Blackwell said.

Overall the Chiefs are on their way to not just another successful season, but could be more talented then they have been in many years. The Chiefs are ready for regular season action to show the fans some major improvements. Regular season games may be closer to reality than fans, and the Chiefs may think.
