Q & A with baseball coach Ryan Stegall

Q and A with Liberty North Baseball coach Ryan Stegall on this year’s goals and expectations.

What are the main differences between last year’s team and this year’s team? How have the players grown? Are there any new editions/players?

The main difference from last year’s team and this year’s is our pitching staff. We lost a lot of good arms and will be looking to replace those guys this year. We have a number of guys who are ready to step up and fill those roles. Our guys have been working hard all off season and in the first few weeks of practice. We are ready to get out on the field and get the season going.

How do you like coaching this team so far?

This is going to be a great group of guys. There is great leadership on this team and we have a lot of hardworking players. The guys come every day looking to get themselves better.

What are some team goals you have?

We would love to go through the season and win conference, win 20 games, and all of that good stuff, but the main goal is to be playing our best baseball come district time.

How are some players that you think are really going to step up or shine this year?

Tyler Funk will be the ace of our staff. Returning starters are Jake Hanson, Zach Fuller, Zach Starr, Paul Sherwood, and Brian Sharp. Also returning is Payton Reid, Conner Simpson, Cale Hanson.

What are some things you are most excited about?

We are ready to get out on the field and start playing.

How successful do you expect to be this year?

We have a lot of experience so we are expecting to compete at a high level.
