Kicking off Soccer Season

Soccer season is officially underway. The varsity soccer girls started this season off with two ties scoring 1 to 1 against Grain Valley, and 0 to 0 with Platte County.

“It was the start of the season so naturally there were some nerves and a little bit of pressure with it being a season that can go far with the team we have, but by the third game we figured it out,” senior Sidney Ewing said.

On March 21 they fought hard against Staley and came out on top with a score of 2 to 0. Abby Bray got the Eagles going by making the first goal with an assist from Sidney Ewing, and the second goal was scored by Jamie Rance on a penalty kick. Shut out by Hallie Hicks and Gabby Burns.

“Defense was doing really good today so I didn’t have to stop too many shots. I’m lucky to be on a team with such hard working and talented defenders,” junior Hallie Hicks said.

The girls are looking forward to the next big game and are preparing for whatever could be thrown at them. It’s the conference match against the crosstown rival, Liberty High School.

“Going into the game on Tuesday will sure get my blood flowing because the rivalry is so strong. I know our team has what it takes to win,” sophomore Jami Parker said.
