Golden Girls at State

The LNHS Golden Girls dominated at State last weekend as they came in 1st place and were officially named State Champions. The hard work obviously paid off for this group of determined girls.

“I am so thankful we won state. Being on the team for four years, we worked so hard and I finally feel we have achieved our biggest goal,” senior Courtney Benner said.

Benner further explains, “We had practice everyday after school, we added some morning practices, and we even had some five hour practices on the weekends,”

The girls had to devote many hours of their free time to dance, but they did not complain.

“We have put in countless hours of practice. We are always doing whatever we can to make ourselves better,” Senior Jamee Slagle said.

Talk about a packed schedule; but these girls were able to handle it, nonetheless with a positive attitude.

“I have learned that you have to fight for your goals because they are not just handed to you,” Benner said.

This was the experience of a lifetime for these girls; their dedication for dance really shined in their performances.

“We had a lot of competition, so it was a big deal we won. It wasn’t a ‘we should have’ kind of thing,” Junior Lindsay Marvine said.

The Golden Girls gave all they had and successfully represented North Nation, even in St. Louis. Gooooo Eagles!
