“Fantasy” Football

To some people, fantasy football is more than just fantasy, it’s the real deal.

“Fantasy football is where you draft your team and depending on how they play, you get points for how well those players play,” sophomore Finn Giddings said.

There are leagues where you can join with random people or you can join a league with your friends. There are many rewards for winning in either of these league types.

“It’s fun joining a league with your friends and family because you can brag and it is always something to talk about. You can get bragging rights and money if you win. It all depends on the league,” Giddings said.

Nathan Jacob, a sophomore at LNHS, participates in a few fantasy football leagues with his friends.

“I like how fantasy football makes Sunday’s more interesting. It helps give a reason to watch football,” Jacob said.

Fantasy Sports Club is a club that meets every Thursday during Eagle Hour. Mr. Osborne is in charge of this club and has been participating in fantasy sports for quite awhile.

“I am in a 15 year old league with my brothers and friends. We were once a group of high school kids that are now playing with doctors, and lawyers, and teachers,” Osborne said.

There are a few benefits to playing fantasy football besides it just being fun. More than just the competitiveness, there are real life examples to be taken from this fantasy sport.

“I think that school skills can be transferred. You can use data to make a good team, making offers and trades, and analyzing the data to beat your opponent are all examples of this,” Osborne said.
