The Liberty North Eagles JV soccer team was at Blue Springs high school this past Saturday and they played against two teams with very good records in the Blue Springs tournament. The Eagles played against the Blue Springs Wildcats and the Ray-Pec Panthers. The Eagles compete in the Suburban Small Six conference while the other two teams in the tournament play in the Suburban Big Seven conference, so the competition was better than what the Eagles normally compete against.
Junior defender Austin Salmon said, “Blue Springs was very good technically. We had to play almost the whole game on our side of the field. The defense was rock solid and the ending of the game was very hectic.”
The Eagles fought hard and tied to a very good team in the first game against Blue Springs. The game was tied 0-0 with ten minutes left in the game and the ball seemed to just bounce around the Eagles box. With a lot of suspense the Eagles held on to tie the game 0-0.
Sophomore defender Brad Hagen said, Ray Pec was big and they played very physical. Our goals were mental mistakes and a large part of that was because we had to play back to back games.”
After the first game the Eagles had to get ready to play another one. Concluding a quick thirty-minute break the Eagles took the field to play against Ray-Pec. Ray Pec was big and seemed to foul the Eagles on almost every play. The Eagles fought hard though and held their ground only giving up four goals in a 4-0 loss.
The Eagles junior varsity soccer team had to wake up early in the morning this past Saturday, but they fought hard and competed well in the Blue Springs tournament.
