CHIEFS NOT TREATING FANS WITH WINS

CHIEFS NOT TREATING FANS WITH WINS

Whether the team wants to admit it or not, whether KC Wolf wants to admit it or not, whether the fans want to admit it or not, every week has been another stagnant performance for the Kansas City Chiefs. Just passed Halloween, the Chief’s start to their season has lead to a whole lot more of tricking fans then the expected plethora of treats.
1-6 is a record of a team that is already looking towards the next NFL Draft and future seasons. The Chief’s have the unfortunate circumstance of being that team this season. There is little sugar coating what was expected, versus what has been displayed. Alarming, appalling, and atrocious, the setting is complete, and rewriting the novel is quite unlikely at this point in time. The Chief’s starting quarterback for the 2012 season has also been the leagues worst. He ranks 32 out of 32 starting quarterbacks; I think that should equate to a fairly simple conclusion by itself. Cassel has thrown for 6 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and accumulated a 1-4 record, leading to the belief that benching must be mandatory. Even with Cassel’s poor play, the backup Brady Quinn, has not played up to par either. The season’s downward spiral has little to no indication of ending anytime soon.
If the lack of a franchise quarterback isn’t enough of a reason to justify why the Chiefs are ranked the worst team in the NFL, lets just take a minute to look at the three main bees to this failing hive. The Head Coach, Romeo Crennel, has shown, in every way, that he is not capable of being a Head Coach in the NFL. A top tier defensive coordinator, without question, Crennel has proven that a head coach position is a little more then he can handle. Then Scott Pioli, General Manager, has proven time and time again that he is not capable of drafting talent that lives up to expectations, and holds too much of an ego to find a new quarterback after whiffing with the Matt Cassel Experiment. With a failing franchise quarterback, and more draft bust then can be listed, Scott Pioli has failed at his position, and must go. Then Clark Hunt, Owner, has been very cheap with his franchise, and judging by the lack of a quality head coach and general manager, he is a failing member of this organization as well. Oh, and did I mention Clark Hunt’s home is in Dallas, Texas? Safe to say, being connected to his team had never been his niche either. A fair amount of problems within this organization staff, and though Hunt will not go away, he can fix the other two problems from lingering any further.
Rewind to the beginning of the year, and you will find many prominent NFL analysis projecting the Chiefs to make a case for winning the AFC West Division, and winning there first playoff game since the AFC Divisional playoff run of 1993, 18 seasons ago. Projected to be the quiet storm, with the most talent, and the least amount of hype, it turns out that nine games into the NFL Season, the Chiefs are now viewed as the team with the most talent; wasted. When will the Chiefs give fans the treat they have longed for so long? Try a new franchise quarterback, a front office overhaul, and a couple minor team roster upgrades. If the team does make these changes, they would go from a historic mess, to a team with a clear path to a run in the playoffs. You don’t want to be the team trying to lose, but it the Chief’s case, it is time to look at the 2013 draft, and the future that can be right around the corner.
