During my visit in Kosovo, this last month, I helped repair schools and spent time with the students. I met incredible kids, bursting with dreams and aspirations much like ours, yet lacking the resources to pursue them. Their determination to improve their situation was inspiring, reminding me of the resilience that exists in the face of adversity.

  Traveling to Kosovo, a nation that declared its independence in 2008, opened my eyes to the privileges we often take for granted in the U.S. It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are when surrounded by the comforts that shape our daily lives. In contrast, Kosovo is a young country facing significant challenges after years of oppression and deadly war. Many schools are in disrepair, with bathrooms that often do not work, a lack of central heating, and classrooms that need repair. Additionally, they lack resources like libraries, computers, and projectors that we consider essential for education.
