Nightmare On Asteria

Nightmare+On+Asteria

Hi, I’m Bryson Prindle. I’m a senior here at LNHS and this is Prindle’s Perspective. Here I will talk mainly about things going on with movies, games, and other stuff that I enjoy. You can expect a lot of talk over Fortnite updates, and new Fallout content (Most likely 76). As well as Marvel and DC movies or series.

Well it’s that time of the year again, spooky month. You know what that means? Well obviously candy, horror movies, pumpkins, the list goes on. But I mean that it’s time for our favorite game to have its spooky themed festivities. This is a relatively long one so I’d say it’s about time to turn off the lights, grab a blanket, a candle, and some candy. Really just set the spooky mood, because we’re about to go through the terrifyingly good news of Fortnitemares 2023.

Fortnitemares 2023, starting October 10th, will have the Kado Thorne boss, who resides at Eclipsed Estate, taking on his vampiric form. He will also now wield a reskinned version of the Kinetic Blade from Chapter 4 Season 2. We will also be getting a UI (User Interface) overhaul changing up the look of the Lobby and all its tabs like the Item Shop and Discovery Tab. Blackheart, from Chapter 1 Season 8, will also be making a return to the island. If you find his ghost, look where he’s pointing and you will find some buried treasure for you to dig up and loot. As for map changes we got one. Kado Thorne’s time machine is unlocked and you can now enter the room where it sits. We will also be getting plenty of new spooky themed skins including Seth the mummy, and the creepily reskinned Bogstick for Fishstick, Phantom Meowcscles for Meowscles, and Festival Phaedra for Phaedra. We will also be getting three new collabs consisting of Michael Myers from the Halloween movie franchise, Alan Wake from the Alan Wake game franchise, and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Now it ain’t Fortnitemares without its classic item unvaults. Returning this year are the highly explosive Pumpkin Launcher, a newly reskinned Witch Broom to glide around on, and our good old fashioned candy. All the candies have their own special effects for when you eat them. Candy Corn gives you ten health, Jelly Beans give you ten shield, Pepper Mints give you five health and a temporary speed boost, and Hop Drops give you five health and a temporary low gravity effect. Now let’s move on to the newly released item, the Wood Stake Shotgun. This beauty is a new shotgun that, instead of firing actual shells, shoots wooden stakes, dealing heavy damage to whoever it hits. It’s the perfect gun for hunting vampires. We also got 4 new Augments. Mythic Grab Bag gives you a random mythic weapon, Trick Or Treat gives you candy as well as boosting the effects of it and giving you more for every elimination, Revamped gives you a Wood Stake Shotgun and activates siphon, giving you health every time you get a hit on another player, and finally Witchy Warrior gives you a Witch Broom and reduces its cooldown.

With the return of Fortnitemares we also get the return of the Horde Rush LTM (Limited Time Mode) with new quests to gain in-game rewards. Before we talk about rewards, let’s talk about what Horde Rush is. Horde Rush is a wave based game mode where, as a team, you will go to different locations and try to survive each one’s horde of Cube Monsters. If you survive all the waves, you will get to the last phase where you will fight the final boss. As you take down these monsters you will rack up your score by earning combos and collecting score multipliers. It also sports a unique loot pool of new and old weapons. As for the rewards, you will get XP, a Pickaxe, Wrap, and Emoticon. Now if you prefer Battle Royale, there are also new Fortnitemares Quests for that to earn you even more rewards. You will be rewarded with XP, a Back Bling, Banner Icon, Emote, Spray, Contrail, Lobby Track, Loading Screen, and Glider.

This year’s turning out to be a spooky one indeed, I can’t wait to get started. While I have always wanted to fight the Storm King from Chapter 2 Season 1 again, I am actually really happy with how this year’s festivities are playing out. Anyways, that’s all this time. As always, have fun, stay safe, and don’t be mean to people.
