Local Business Spotlight: Freckled Lamb

The fall season is underway and many are stocking up on cozy wardrobe staples, such as sweaters, sweatshirts, and other pieces designed for those colder months. Freckled Lamb, a local clothing boutique established in 2018, is owned and operated by former LPS staff member Mary Oyler and offers many options for those looking to bundle up this season, with a focus on comfort and empowerment.

“I started Freckled Lamb right after I had my first child. I was struggling with body and self-esteem issues and was feeling like I was losing a part of myself. I wanted to create a brand that empowered women of all shapes and sizes and helped us to all find comfort without sacrificing our style,” Oyler said.

With this message in mind, Oyler opened the physical Freckled Lamb store, located on the Liberty Square.

“I loved having a brick-and-mortar store! It was so much fun and we live in an extremely supportive community. People in Liberty really love to support their local businesses. We have been so fortunate with the support we were given in the store,” Oyler said.

Like many small businesses across the country, Freckled Lamb was impacted by the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020. Oyler, like many other business owners, had to navigate how to run a business during a pandemic.

“The biggest issue with COVID was making people feel safe. To combat that, we ran the bulk of our business online, as that was the 100% safest way for people to shop. This definitely helped us grow the online portion of our business,” Oyler said.

Running the online portion of Freckled Lamb was nothing new for Oyler. Oyler and her team are active on the Freckled Lamb social media accounts, running Facebook Live sales and chatting with customers. As time progressed, Oyler made the decision to move 100% online.

“I moved to fully online in August…Online is great because anyone can shop from anywhere at any time. They don’t have to worry about set store hours. We give our customers a variety of ways to shop online and we ship all over the country! One drawback would be that people can’t try on. We have worked really hard to build trust with our customers so that they feel confident when ordering online,” Oyler said.

Visit www.freckledlamb.com and www.facebook.com/freckledlambboutique to shop and interact with the Freckled Lamb community and their future endeavors. Freckled Lamb has flourished online and has given Oyler the opportunity to spend more time with her family.

“Having a physical store was never a goal of mine. It was something that just kind of happened. I had always wanted the business to succeed but my main goal was to be with my children. I love that we live in a time where I can have the best of both worlds. Running the business online is definitely the right thing for the business and my family,” Oyler said.
