ACT and College Prep Day 9-18

On September 18, 2017, Liberty North administered the Pre-ACT test to its ninth and tenth grades. During the same time, upperclassmen spent time working on ACT and college prep. For most freshmen and sophomores, this will be their first practice ACT test to get them ready for the standardized test.

“During that class level time, sophomores took the Pre-ACT. It was long and challenging, but I believe it will help me with the real ACT,” sophomore Hunter Aikmus said.

While sophomores took the Pre-ACT, juniors took an ACT diagnostic through Naviance. The diagnostic was written like an ACT test, which was graded instantly after completion, allowing students to see where they had room to improve for the ACT juniors will take later in the year.

“I thought the diagnostic was quite useless. No one even looked over the scores, besides me. I could’ve done it at home. They could have just told us it was there if we wanted to use it. Instead, they decided to use my time, taking me out of classes for four hours, to make this day practically useless for me,” junior Selma Khalil said.

While juniors and underclassmen took ACT prep during the first portion of the day, seniors went to a meeting in the PAT to help them prepare for applying and attending college.

“They sat us down in the PAT, and they went over the process of how to apply to college and how to hook up with Family Connection. Then, Josten’s came in, and they told us about different packages for you cap and gown, tassels, and all that good stuff,” senior Olivia Carlile said.
