Game, Set, Match!

The Liberty North women’s tennis team is hoping for a killer season. With a lot of time and hard work put in during the off season and a few new players, the eagles are wanting to make this season the best yet. Coming off of a pretty successful season, they hope to do even better with lots and lots of practice.

“Our last season went well, this season I hope for our team to win districts because we did not last year. To prepare for the season we had a lot of offseason practices in the winter and summer,” Junior Holly Hawkins said.

With the seniors leaving and the team being smaller, it is very different for these eagles. They are facing many challenges and have to try and overcome them together. A few seniors are stepping up to make sure the team stays focused on their goal.

“It’s different in the sense that we had a lot of seniors last year and a bigger team and  this year we have less seniors and a smaller team, but in the end it just makes us more unified and closer as a team. The other senior and I do act as leaders for our team. We take initiative and lead our warm ups, and make sure our new members feel welcome as they join the team,” Senior Kammi Porter said.

The Eagles are very excited for this season and can’t wait to get it in full swing. The girls all get along really well and want to take their friendships all the way to a district title. With a lot of teamwork and hard work, it is just around the corner.

“I’m really excited about this season! I couldn’t ask for a better team, or a better way to kick off my senior year. As long as we work hard and do our best it will be a great season for the tennis team,” Porter said.
