The Liberty North Mens Basketball team, coached by Chris McCabe, celebrated their 100th win January 15 at the Denver Miller basketball tournament hosted by Kirkwood High School. The Eagles defeated the McCluer North Stars 72 to 61, clinching McCabe’s 100th win since the program began nearly 6 years ago.

“I’m glad we could be apart of the 100th win for Coach McCabe. None of this would be possible without him and I’m glad he got his 100th win. It is well deserved,” Senior Michael Wansing said.

After the victory McCabe began his way back to the school’s locker room just like he does after every other game. Only this time he was called back to center court to be recognized for his accomplishment. Kirkwood High School presented McCabe the game ball to honor their monumental win.

“It means a lot because nothing has ever been handed to us and I think our guys have deserved each win they have.  It also shows sustained success since the start of the program, which is something we are working diligently to keep going,” Head Coach Chris McCabe said.

Reaching the goal of 100 wins did not come easy for the Eagles. Many hours were put towards progressing as a team and developing their skills. There are a multitude of people to credit for the great success of the program. There is a total of 7 program coaches and a variety of managers that all contributed to the team along with the players that work hard to be successful.

“I owe our success to my family.  Both my personal family and my basketball family.  I have an enormous amount of support that allows me to do what I love.  As a team, we have coaches who work tirelessly to put our team in best position to have success.  Most importantly, our players have gone out there and performed at a really high level and are the reason we can celebrate this accomplishment,” McCabe said.
